Hello,
How’s everything?
Everything is great here, it’s all still very difficult, but it’s worth it. Theory and aural are so hard, I barely can keep up, but I’m going to succeed. I’ll just have to put forth a lot of effort.
This interim I’m going on an internship in Minneapolis for education. With a group of twenty students, we stay at a youth hostel and teach at low-income, suburb schools. There I’ll find out if I really want to become an ESL and choir teacher, because I’ll be able to participate in those types of classes. Did
tell you about that? Now my new plan is to become a choir teacher with my emphases on piano, and then also add on an ESL major. The only problem with these two majors is that I can’t study abroad for a semester without adding on extra time to my majors.
Until next time,
Julida Kochanowski

Mary Thomas received this email from Julida--
Hello,
Sorry to make you wait so long for the reply. My school, St. Olaf didn't start until
the 9th, and I figures I would finish a week of school so I would have something to write
about.
I'm taking private piano lessons, music theory, aural skills, religion, French and psychology. I'm also working nine hours a week in the cafeteria. Everything is very challenging, and I have to manage my time very wisely. Even theory and aural skills is challenging, and I would have been completely lost if it was not for the theory background I had through Suzuki. St. Olaf is a
gorgeous campus, and it's so enjoyable to sit outside and do my homework.
My address at St. Olaf is

Wow--a terrific turn out at the first meeting of the year! I always thoroughly enjoy sessions on new music. Sometimes we all need that little 'spark' to get us motivated in our studios.
Eddie's October topic sounds like it's going to be great--hope to see everyone there! And I hope you'll join me at the WMTA state conference on October 30 & 31st as Kathleen Theisen (old SPAMTA colleague and UWSP alumni) will be presenting two outstanding sessions both days, especially geared towards the independent teacher/self-employed entrepreneur.
